Nextel Customers Gain Access to Local News Anytime, Anywhere
Nextel customers now have access to local news on their mobile devices through a partnership with News Over Wireless.
Thirteen Nextel devices, all manufactured by Motorola, are now certified. They include: i580, i605, i760, i850, i860, i870, i265, i670, i710, i730, i733, i736 and i830.
In 2005, Nextel and Sprint merged and together serve 53.6 million customers as of the end of the first quarter 2007 according to the company’s May 2 news release.
News Over Wireless has launched a Nextel section on all partner station download pages. Users can also download the applications through their phones and the Nextel Digital Lounge. The application currently includes text and graphics and is available for $3.99 a month.
“We are pleased to extend our partners’ reach to Nextel customers across the country,” said Sam Matheny, News Over Wireless general manager. “This builds upon the strong partnership that we have with Sprint and enables our station partners to reach even more of their viewers.”
