WRAL Documentary is one of the only dedicated documentary units in local TV. Its mission is to provide in-depth coverage of topics and issues relevant to North Carolinians.
Originally established as “Focal Point,” WRAL changed the name of the franchise to “WRAL Documentary” in March 2011. Producer Clay Johnson and Photographer Jay Jennings teamed with WRAL anchors and staffers to create a number of award-winning productions including 6,149 Days about wrongly convicted, and then exonerated Greg Taylor and the ground-breaking social media/documentary event College $ports: #missionormoney.
Cristin Severance joined the WRAL Documentary Team in 2021 as the Investigative Reporter and Producer.
WRAL documentaries have won various awards, including regional Emmy awards as well as the 2007 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award. Find out more at http://www.wral.com/news/local/documentaries/.
