WRAL-TV had a busy weekend for two reasons. As staffers prepared the station for the change to NBC on Monday, several WRAL-TV employees traveled to Nashville to attend the 30th Regional Emmy Awards. They picked up 7 statuettes for the station during the annual awards presentation on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
WRAL-TV won the prestigious Emmy for News Excellence, the final award of the evening. WRAL-TV Anchor Debra Morgan accepted on the station’s behalf.
“I’m so proud of everybody at WRAL, these folks here, the folks I know who are at home watching in North Carolina,” said Morgan from the podium. “Everybody day in and day out work so hard. When I bring people to the TV station, I tell them you see very few of our faces on TV, but look at the people who make this news operation run. It is a team effort. We work so hard to serve the people of our community. It’s not about us. It’s about the people on the other side of the camera.”
And the WRAL winners are:
