An In-depth Look at the FOX 50 Ten O’Clock News |
If you missed last week’s FOX 50 Ten O’clock News, you missed the only 10 o’clock news coverage of an ultra light plane crash and the only pictures of a double-murder suspect apprehended after a manhunt. Our News team debuted August 1 from a new set in WRAL’s studio “B.” It’s fast, fresh and “First on Fox.” Our goal is to give viewers all the day’s news, tomorrow’s forecast, and the big sports highlights in a hip style that will appeal to FOX viewers and the youthful Triangle market.
The Weeknight news Team (from left to right): Barbara Cain, Cullen Browder, and Linda Paige
Most of the on-air team is new to the area. Cullen Browder and Barbara Cain anchor the Monday through Friday newscast. Cullen is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, excited to be back in the Triangle. Barbara started her career in the Greenville market and has family here. Meteorologist Linda Paige is most recently from Oklahoma City. Jeff Gravely is the only veteran, retaining his position as week night sports anchor.
Weekend anchor/reporter Lynda Loveland, Reporter Todd Hauer, weekend sports anchor Todd Lewis and weekend weather anchor Elizabeth Gardner complete the on-air team.
The FOX 50 Ten O’clock News team shares editorial information, video tape and live trucks with WRAL TV5. As a result, we’ve already been able to double-crew some big stories. The added resources benefit both news products. A lot of WRAL staff members, especially the Production, Editing, Engineering, and Graphics departments, worked on the newscast launch and will continue to contribute to it everyday.
Good luck to the FOX 50 staff.
