Jim Goodmon Receives Spirit of Scouting Award

Jim Goodmon, President and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting Company, was awarded the Spirit of Scouting Award during the 2nd Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Awards dinner held on Thursday, April 2 at the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Building in Durham, NC. The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service Awards recognize outstanding services by adults, individuals, or organizations that demonstrate involvement in Mr. Young’s, “dream of justice and equality for all in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for low-income, inner-city, and rural youth.”

Goodmon fulfills Mr. Whitney’s dream through his support of Operation First Class, a program that reaches out to at-risk youth by providing opportunities for Scouting. Jim Goodmon is committed to voluntary public service, which consumes much of his personal time. His dedication extends into his businesses as well. He has been recognized by presidents, governors, and ordinary citizens alike.
