WRAL-TV Wins the Triangle Media Softball League Championship |
The WRAL-TV softball team earned “bragging rights” when it won the Triangle Media Softball League Championship on Saturday, July 11 with a 14-8 victory over its competition. The Triangle Media Softball League has made a resurgence since the late 1980’s. This year’s season started in May with a total of six teams made up from area media companies. Some teams, though, had trouble maintaining a full roster, and only four finished out the season. All games were played on Saturday mornings and were usually completed by noon.
This year’s team members were: James Ford, coach; Cameron Poston, Leon Duncan, Lori Foushee, Shelly Leslie, Raymond Farrar, Chad Flowers, Rob Hale, Steve Colwell, Steve Tanner, Tim King, Ron Walker, Charles Braswell, and their #1 fan, Malinda Adams.
Participation in this league is limited to WRAL-TV employees since there is an abundance of players willing to play. However, the WRAL team is willing to play other divisions, and the League is interested in forming a fall schedule that could include other cbc divisions. In fact, they have been exploring the idea of adding non-media teams if there is enough interest. So, gather your friends and family and come join the fun.
