MIX 101.5 Wins Award for PSA on the Columbine Tragedy

At the annual NCAB convention held in Myrtle Beach in early August, Ardie Gregory, WRAL-FM’s General Manager, accepted the 1999 NCAB ‘BEST OF THE BEST’ award for a PSA called “Children.” The PSA was produced by WRAL-FM’s Continuity Director, Lori McTighe.

The award was given in the Radio Public Service Category for a PSA created as a tribute to the students killed at Columbine High School in Colorado. The piece is a montage made using a combination song clips, voices of some of the children who were involved in the incident, news people reporting & talking about the incident, WRAL-FM morning show announcer’s comments, listener call-ins, and the President speaking. McTighe was so moved by the tragedy when it occurred, she felt compelled to make a statement about it.

Listen to the spot.
