Coastal Federal Field in the Home Stretch |
There is less than three weeks until the start of the 1999 Baseball season. The construction of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ home stadium, Coastal Federal Field, is in the home stretch. The field has looked ready for game action for months, but the stadium is on its way to becoming game ready.
The seats are being put in this week and the luxury suites are taking shape. Fans will be able to sit on a grassy hill, which as of this week, is nothing but dirt down the left field line. The Pelicans Souvenir Pro Shop is almost ready to be stocked with merchandise. Even the seating for the players is almost complete.
The home clubhouse, featured beyond the right field wall, will have a couple of batting cages with a roof over head. The picnic area, adjacent to the home team clubhouse, provides a unique game viewing perspective– it juts out towards the field of play. The picnic area has the capacity to accommodate around 700 people.
