1999 FOX 50 Citations Now Total Five |
FOX 50 Promotion & Marketing took in 4 awards at the 1999 Promax & Fox Promotion Executive Conference (FPEC) conventions in San Francisco during the week of June 7th. With the addition of the Southeast regional Emmy won earlier this year for “Promotion Writing, ” FOX has a total of five prestigious awards for 1999.
FOX 50 won three Fox Monument Awards, a national competition between all Fox affiliates.
- Fox Monument Best Contest Promo- for “Freakin’ Football Flipout,” produced by Pete Salkowski.
- Fox Monument Best Kids Promo – for a “Fox 50 Kids Club Image spot,” produced by Lec Coble.
- Fox Monument for Best Overall Reel!
This was a really big honor, because this award is given to the Fox affiliate with the best spots overall and FOX 50’s reel included work by the entire department.
The Promax Gold Medallion Award is awarded each year at the Promax Conference and is very prestigious because it is an international competition. There were nearly 5000 entries in this year’s competition and FOX 50’s very own Pete Salkowski took home the top award (Gold) for Sports Promotion, not only beating out stations across the US (including all affiliates – CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.), but also stations in England, Ireland, France, etc. The winning spot was “Hockey-O-Rama,” which promoted the Carolina Hurricanes on WB 50 (they weren’t quite Fox, yet). The spot also featured the acting talents of other CBC employee’s Lec Coble and Christian McIlwain.
Congratulations again for a job well done!
