NCNN Captures Three First Place Awards from NASRN |
On Saturday night, October 30, in the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Dallas, TX, the North Carolina News Network received three out of six news awards during the NASRN (National Association of State Radio Networks) annual conference.
Jay Joiner was honored for Best Political Reporting for his coverage of how political issues, such as the tobacco settlement had a direct effect on listeners pocketbooks. Best Documentary went for the coverage of the organizers’ of the Special Olympics efforts to improve Cultural Awareness in anticipation of the event. Steve Shumake was honored for Best Newscast for his coverage of Hurricane Floyd, that gave important details in a life-threatening situation without inciting panic.
