Golden Years Celebration –
Every December, Capitol Broadcasting Company and Winn-Dixie sponsor the Golden Years Holiday Celebration luncheon for the members of the Golden Years Association of the Raleigh (NC) Parks and Recreation Department. Participants enjoyed a lunch, entertainment, dancing and door prizes. The luncheon was hosted by WRAL-TV news anchors Jim Payne and Debra Morgan, with a welcome and introduction by retired CBC employee Ray Wilkinson and WRAL-TV Meteorologist Greg Fishel. Paul Sabattus from Winn-Dixie made the opening remarks, and CBC’s Waltye Rasulala sang the invocation. This year’s entertainment included members from the Durham School of the Arts Chorale, Bill Smith, Evangelist Nell Smith, The Paul Montgomery Quartet & the Casablanca Band.
Over 1,000 senior citizens attended the 1999 celebration. The event will be televised on WRAL-TV5 at noon on Christmas Day, December 25.
