Microspace Communications Announces New Satellite-Based File Delivery Service
Raleigh, N.C. — Microspace Communications Corporation today announced a new addition to its extensive line of satellite-based video and data delivery products. The new service, called FILE FORWARD, allows clients to reliably send files of any type to multiple locations.
According to Greg Hurt, Director of Sales and Marketing at Microspace, “Our new FILE FORWARD service is just perfect for clients who have multipoint data delivery requirements, but the frequency of those broadcasts doesn’t quite justify one of our full-time satellite channels.”
Users of the service are able to utilize the Internet to deliver any type of file to Microspace. The content is FILE FORWARDed over the company’s VELOCITY satellite capacity. At each designated remote location, the files are delivered via the digital satellite receiver into the built-in file server, which can connect directly to a local area network. This service is ideal for multimedia, IP multicasting, kiosks, and especially corporate intranets.
Joe Amor, Vice President and General Manager at Microspace, says, “FILE FORWARD directly addresses many of the concerns of occasional data broadcast users. These concerns have included full-time satellite bandwidth and long-term contracts. FILE FORWARD removes these barriers and makes it easy to take advantage of the economic benefit of satellite broadcasting.” Amor also adds, “FILE FORWARD naturally protects our customers investment, because this service is transparently upgradeable, without recapitalization of equipment or remote site visits.”
Microspace Communications operates the world’s largest satellite-based data/audio network for business communications. This network currently broadcasts daily to over 300,000 remote locations and provides paging data to over 9 million subscribers.
