Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast

Capitol Broadcasting Company honors the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his dream by sponsoring the Triangle Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. It was held this year at the Sheraton Imperial, Research Triangle Park, NC with over 1,500 people attending.

 

People feasted on a hot buffet breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, muffins & juices.

After the invocation by Rev. Gerald L. Lewis, Mrs. Mary E. Perry, President of the Wendell-Wake NAACP welcomed everyone.

Pastor Charles L. Herrin, Longview United Methodist Church, Raleigh, NC, gave the prayer for brotherhood & sisterhood.

Pastor Dumas A. Harshaw, Jr.,
First Baptist Church,
spoke on the power of prayer & the intervention of God in keeping the dream of Dr. King, Jr. alive.

US Senator John R. Edwards gave a special message on equality in the justice system.


Everyone enjoyed the words of compassion & hope spoken by the speakers through inspirational messages, songs, & prayers. Guests were uplifted by the keynote address by Pastor William A. Thurston.

Mayor Pro-Tem J. Howard Clement, II gave a special greeting from the city of Durham.
Everyone was uplifted by several spirituals by the United Voices of Praise.
