FOX 50 Helps Get The Word Out About Technology 2000 Conference

Cullen Browder
FOX50 News Anchor

Cullen Browder, news anchor for FOX 50, introduced Scot Wingo, co-founder and CEO of AuctionRover.com to the audience at the Technology 2000 Showcase held at the McKimmon center on the NC State campus on Friday, March 24.

FOX 50 was proud to be a media partner of this event, helping to draw attention to the smaller, high tech companies in RTP.

Scott Wingo, introduced by Browder, is just one example of the new breed of high-tech company being started in the area. Since earning his masters from NC State in 1991, Wingo co-founded Stingray Software and then sold it for about 21 million dollars. In 1999, he started up AuctionRover, an auction services web site. He built partnerships with Yahoo and Ebay. Then eight months later, GoTo.com announced it was acquiring his company for 3.47 million shares. That’s the equivalent of about 200 million dollars. At only 31 years old, he’s a fascinating high tech success story and a real inspiration to us all.
