MIX 101.5 Nominated Once Again For A Crystal Award |
Congratulations are in order! WRAL-FM has once again been selected as a finalist for the NAB 2000 Crystal Awards, which recognizes radio stations for exemplary achievement in year-round community service. Hundreds of stations apply for the honor each year, yet only ten stations receive it. The ten winners will be announced at the Radio Luncheon of NAB2000 in Las Vegas on April 11th.
To enter, a station must submit a 12 page summary of their community service efforts. Finalists are selected by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms.
WRAL-FM first received the award in 1996 and, to date, is the only radio station in North Carolina to get this award. A few highlights from the 1999 MIX entry includes:
- MIX raised $89,500 for the Hurricane Floyd victims
- MIX raised $728, 000 for the children at Duke Children’s Hospital
- MIX was instrumental in signing up 25,000 volunteers for the Special Olympic World Games
- MIX provides free family events like Bunny Eggspress, Fourth of July Celebration and the Trick or Treat Festival
