The Gift Of Life, Then Play Ball!
Blood Drive Planned Before Pelicans Game
MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The American Red Cross and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are teaming up to host a Blood Drive on Wednesday, May 24 from noon until 4 PM at Coastal Federal Field. Following the Blood Drive, the Pelicans will play the Kinston Indians in the third and final game of that three-game series with the first pitch at 7:05 PM.
In addition to giving the gift of life when one gives blood, there are baseball incentives in giving blood on that day. Donors can purchase a Reserved Ticket for that night’s game at $3.25, 50% off the regular price (based on availability). Also, donors are entered into a drawing for a Pelicans autographed baseball and pair of box seats to a home game of their choice during the 2000 regular season.
In order to raise awareness of the latest Red Cross programs, a table with informative literature will be set up in the main concourse of the stadium that evening. For more information on the American Red Cross, please contact Jeannie Carmichael, Executive Director of the Horry County Chapter at 843-477-0020. Their address is 2795 Pampas Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
Local members of the Boy Scouts of America will be attending Saturday night’s game (May 6) versus the Salem Avalanche (7:05 PM first pitch). A representative of the Boy Scouts will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. There will be 400 Scouts from the across the Pee Dee Region represented at the game. The allotment of tickets for the Boy Scouts is completely spoken for, but the game itself is not sold out. In order to contact the Pee Dee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America for more information, please call District Manager Ricky Huggins at 843-662-6306.
