WRAL Wins “Media Award” |
May 5th, WRAL-TV was given the “Media Award” by the NC Employment Network, a Division of Vocational Rehabilitation at a luncheon presentation in Greensboro, North Carolina. The award is, “To recognize Honor and Excellence Concerning Empowerment and Employment of People with Disabilities”.
Channel 5 was nominated by the Orange County Council of the NC Employment Network for:
- Its sponsorship of a Habitat for Humanities House for the disabled in Orange County
- Its television coverage of the issues and successes of the disabled
- Capitol Broadcasting Company’s history of the employment of the disabled
The Habitat House became a model that spurred the addition of features for the disabled in a score of other Habitat Homes in Orange County.
