Sports Memorabilia Visits Durham Bulls Athletic Park

With the “crack of the bat,” it brought thrilling competition between two major league baseball players. Who would hit the most home runs for the ’98 season, Mark McGwire, (St. Louis Cardinals) or Sammy Sosa, (Chicago Cubs)?

A special collection of sports memorabilia visited the Durham Bulls Athletic Park June 12th through June 14th.

This collection contained 10 historic home run baseballs hit by Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa during their thrilling home run race in 1998 including McGuire’s 70th and Sosa’s 66th.

Season ticket holders were invited to enter the park early on Wednesday, June 14th to view the collection privately and also to take in the Bulls/Red Sox batting practice.
