On Sunday, July 9th, Wool E. Bull had a crowd of over 6,500 at the Durham Bulls game on hand to celebrate his eighth birthday and be the first to see his new “beanie” likeness. Although the Bulls lost to the Columbus Clippers, the party was a great success.
Allan Long, Merchandise Manager at the Durham Bulls, decided to create a new Wool E. Bull doll, and he and Market Identity designed and made the product. It is an

exact replica of the Wool E. Bull mascot. Seventy of the dolls were sold at their unveiling on Sunday.
Eight of Wool E.’s best mascot friends attended the evening game to help wish him a happy birthday, including Mr. & Mrs. Wuf from NC State, Bingo from the Burlington Indians, Tusk from the Herald-Sun, Fireball from the Capital Express, Smokey the Bear, Bravey from the Durham Braves and Grillmore from Berk’s. They led a birthday parade with Wool E. and helped with many of the promotions in-between innings.
The promotion provided a lot of fun for the kids at the game. Zoofauna brought a petting zoo with a baby camel, watusi bull, goats and a lama. The kids also played in the Inflatable Dragon moonbounce, and then got to run the bases after the game and get autographs from Wool E. Bull and five of the Durham Bulls players. All kids were served birthday cake and the entire crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to Wool E.
