Bulls Host Second Annual Career Expo

The Durham Bulls will once again host “The Field of Dreams” Career Expo at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this Thursday September 28 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The event attracted over 1,500 job seekers last year, so the Expo is back by popular demand.

Seventy-five Triangle companies are slated to attend, including Capitol Broadcasting Company, Bell South,

Centura Bank, The Herald Sun, IBM, Midway Airlines, Nortel Networks, Duke University, N.C. State University, University of N. C. at Chapel Hill. Wake Med and many more. For a complete list of companies slate to attend, go to http://www.durhambulls.com/jobfair.html.

Job seekers need only bring a resume, college id or business card as admission to the Expo. The first 1,000 to arrive will receive free food including Domino’s pizza, hot dogs and Pepsi.

Companies in attendance will have a table display on the main concourse of the DBAP. Promotional games and prizes will be a part of the fun, and the Career Expo will have a casual relaxed atmosphere for great interaction between candidates and employers.

Bulls Sales Manager / Special Events Chip Hutchinson and Former Sales Manager Matt West “dreamed up” the “Field of Dreams” Career Expo last year. In making calls about sponsorships for the Bulls, Hutchinson got the response from a lot of companies that they purchased Bulls sponsorships for recruiting purposes. The many Triangle companies compete for the same people. Hutchinson said, “We wanted to offer an event they could strictly use for recruiting.” Thus the Bulls Job Fair was born. Because of the success of the event, with a name change to Career Expo, the job fair will be an annual event at the ballpark.
