WFVT in Charlotte began airing its own newscast on October 9. The Ten O’Clock News on WB55 is yet another endeavor by Capitol Broadcasting Company television station.

The 35-minute newscast airs seven nights a week at 10:00pm. NBC6 produces the newscast for WFVT, down the road from the Performance Road headquarters of CBC stations WFVT and WJZY (UPN46) in the NBC Newschannel studio. The newscast has an exclusive anchor, Kara Finnstrom who most recently anchored the weekend morning newscasts for NBC6.

Finnstrom joined NBC6 in January 1997, after working as a reporter in Baton Rouge (WAFB-TV). A cum laude graduate of the University of Southern California, Finnstrom won the Silver Award for Health Reporting from the Radio & Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas (RTNDAC) in 1998, and the 1999 Award for Excellence from the National Association of Medical Communicators and was recognized by NBC6 WCNC-TV as an outstanding contributor.
