WRAL-TV To Produce A North Carolina Christmas Classic In HD |
The colorful sets, playful dances and rich sounds of a favorite Christmas fantasy will come alive in high definition for the first time in North Carolina

thanks to WRAL-TV. The CBC station will produce the North Carolina School of the Arts’ annual production of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, The Nutcracker, in high definition and will air the performance on Christmas Day in the Triangle.
WRAL-TV’s Phyllis Parish is spearheading the project as executive

producer; WRAL-TV is working in conjunction with WUNC-TV. Parish said, “It will be simply gorgeous in HD, I know!”
Parish and her crew will record the production at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem during performances on December 3 – 5. WRAL-TV will broadcast the HD presentation of The Nutcracker on Christmas Day at 4:00pm and will simulcast on WRAL-DT. The Nutcracker will also run at additional times on WRAL-DT: Thursday, Dec. 27 at 1:00pm; Saturday, Dec. 29 at 4:00pm; Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 2:00pm. UNC-TV will broadcast the program on Christmas Day at 9:00pm.
WRAL-TV (Channel 5) carries its HD programming on its digital channel WRAL-DT, Channel 53, (Time Warner digital cable channel 255).
