Bulls Save $100,000

Batters lined up to swing for $100,000.

The Durham Bulls promotion manager breathed a sigh of relief Friday afternoon. Bulls fans were offered the chance to win $100,000 if they could hit the famous Bull atop the left field wall March 1st and 2nd. The promo budget is safe; no one came close.

Indeed, it’s a tough assignment. Only two of the Bulls pro players hit the Bull during the 2000 season.

The Bulls staged the promotion to kick-off the sale of individual game tickets for April and May. Opening Day is April 5th vs. the Richmond Braves.

Throughout the season, batters who hit the Bull win a steak.

No one was able to hit a homerun to the Bull.

The original Durham Bull hangs in the concession area.
