Established in 1987, the Crystal Awards “recognize radio stations’ efforts to improve the quality of life in their surrounding communities.” NAB President & CEO Edward Fritts said, “The Crystal Radio Award … reflects the extraordinary efforts of the stations we are honoring. These winners are the best of the best and go above and beyond every day what is asked of broadcasters.”
WRAL-FM won a Crystal Award in 1996 and has been nominated five times. CBC’s Senior Vice President of Broadcasting Tom Allen congratulated WRAL-FM, saying that the award is “well deserved recognition for your attention and dedication to the listeners we serve. It’s important that community service is recognized with this NAB award, and very fitting that you should be a recipient.”
Congratulations to the staff of WRAL-FM!
