FOX 50 has received the “Best of the Best Award” for commercial production from the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters (NCAB). FOX 50 won the award for the spot “We’re Batting 2000,” which it produced in collaboration with the Durham Bulls and Joanne Kagen of Ad-Essense. Former Bulls GM Peter Anlyan originally conceived of the idea.
“In an effort to create an image spot that provides exposure and recognition for the Bulls, we used many images of children, smiling happy faces, fun at the ballpark, and of course lots of baseball,” Reid described. “We wanted to reach out to people who are new to the area and show them what Bulls baseball is all about.”

He continued, “The opening frames are composed of 14 layers of video and graphics. After considering the use of stills or full-motion video at the beginning of the spot, we eventually decided to use a slow motion effect in an effort not to overwhelm opening graphics. What follows is a series of quick hitting, soft, friendly images, finishing with a simple end-plate.”
FOX 50 won the “Best of Best Award” in the television commercial spot announcement category for market one. Market one includes Raleigh/Durham, Charlotte and Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point.
