Wolfpack Sports Marketing-produced Site Leads The Network in Revenue Generated

The demise of Raleigh-based Total Sports left more than 65 collegiate athletics websites searching for a new home. Included among these sites was, the official website of NC State Athletics. is produced and maintained by Wolfpack Sports Marketing, a part of CBC’s Capitol Sports division.

After a two-month search for a new provider, Wolfpack Sports Marketing selected Carlsbad, California-based FANSonly as its new partner on the website. FANSonly specializes in the production and hosting of collegiate athletics websites. Currently there are 114 official athletics sites in the FANSonly network, including most of the nation’s largest and most-recognizable universities. All nine ACC schools are network members.

Just prior to the kickoff of the 2001 college football season, the new and improved site was re-launched with the intent of providing a more fan-friendly experience for the viewers. The new design also takes into account the standard designs and marks of not only the athletic department, but the entire university as well.

Among the new features is a “Broadcast Booth” on all pages where fans can easily access the audio of all live play by play broadcasts as well as radio and television coaches shows. Real time stats for each game are also available through the Broadcast Booth.

Pull-down sports menus enable fans to quickly access the pages of their favorite teams while at the same time taking up less space on the front page. An animated scoreboard at the top of the site provides continuous updates and links for all of the sports teams. A sports news and information ticker also calls attention to recent news and promotions on the site.

Through a partnership with Game Day Sports in Cary, the GoPack Store will offer the largest selection of NC State merchandise available on the internet. Online ticket purchasing options are also a part of the new format.

The site is one of the most-trafficked official collegiate athletics sites on the internet, consistently ranking among the top 10 percent of the FANSonly network. The site generates the most advertising and sponsorship revenue in the entire 114-member FANSonly network.

Sponsorship sales, which are also handled by Wolfpack Sports Marketing, are often integrated with on-site or broadcast promotional campaigns. This cross-promotional sales approach has been very effective in generating sponsorships and advertisements for the site.
