“Legends of Baseball” To Play At Coastal Federal Field |
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will host the first ever Legends of Baseball game along with Sprint PCS on September 20, 2001 at 7:05pm. Created to be as part of the Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar to be held in the Pelicans’ hometown on September 20-22, the game will feature former Major League Players.
The “Sprint PCS Legends Game” will be played on the Pelicans’ home field. The two teams, the Palmettos and the Coasters, will be comprised of former Major League greats such as Fergie Jenkins, Vida Blue, Kent Tekulve, Sixto Lezcano, Kelly Gruber, Franklin Stubbs, Rafael Belliard, George Foster, Len Barker, Jay Johnstone, Keith Moreland and Dave Parker. The list includes Pelicans’ Pitching Coach Bruce Dal Canton and Coach Tommy Gregg. Pelicans’ Manager Brian Snitker will manage one of the two teams.
Other “Legends” sponsors include ASA Delta Connection, AIS and the City of Myrtle Beach. Tickets are now on sale for the premiere event. Seats cost $9.00-$4.00 and are available through the Pelicans ticket office at 843-918-6000.
The Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar, a 25-year-old tradition created by the League, will take place at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The seminar features promotions, sales, marketing, tickets and operations within the business of sports for the baseball and other sports executives drawn to the event. In 2001, the Pelicans are sponsoring the seminar for the first time.
