Goodmon Honored By Latin American Community
WRAL-TV Cited For State’s First Spanish Translation Newscast

The Latin American Resource Center (LARC) honored Capitol Broadasting Company’s President & CEO Jim Goodmon and WRAL-TV at LARC’s 10th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, October 6. Goodmon received the “Dialogo Pacesetter Award” at the event.

Secretary of State Elaine Marshall made the presentation to Goodmon, honoring him for his leadership and commitment that led to WRAL-TV’s 6:00 pm News’ Spanish translation. Currently, WRAL-TV is the only station in the Carolinas to simulcast its newscast in Spanish.

LARC is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2001. A highlight of the year-long celebration came on April 26, when the center, along with WRAL-TV, announced their collaborative partnership to offer a Spanish simulcast of WRAL’s 6:00 News.

CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon received the Dialogo Pacesetter Award from the Latin American Resource Center for helping develop a Spanish simulcast of WRAL-TV’s 6:00pm News.
