Healing Place Wins Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Appearance
The Healing Place of Wake County received a special award this Thursday, October 10, 2002, in an evening ceremony at the Capitol in downtown Raleigh. The Healing Place is one of fifteen winners of the Sir Walter Raleigh awards that honor developers, designers, property owners, community groups, volunteers and others who have helped improve Raleigh’s appearance.
The 2002 winners were selected from a record 50 entries. The Healing Place won in the Institutional category along with the BTI Center for Performing Arts parking deck.
Former CBC Senior VP of Broadcasting Fred Barber serves as Chairman of the Healing Place Board, and wife of CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon, Barbara, serves as Vice President. CBC has provided a great deal of support to the fledgling organization, a shelter and rehab clinic for homeless men who are substance abusers.
The program has been hailed as revolutionary in its approach and success in helping addicts return to normal, productive lives.
