WRAL-TV’s Health Team brought home the coveted 2002 Media Excellence Award given by the American Dietetic Association, the first time a local television station has won the honor. The ADA presents the award annually; last year’s award went to The Today Show.
WRAL Health Team Nutritionist Lynn Hoggard traveled to Philadelphia for the awards presentation on October 21, 2002, along with Health Team Producer Andrea Moody and Photographer Ken Bodine. The presentation took place during the Food and Nutrition Conference.
The ADA bestows the Media Excellence Award for excellence in nutrition reporting and conveying nutrition information to the public. The WRAL-TV Health Team’s compilation for the entry included morning nutrition Q&A with the WRAL anchors, recipe remakes and daily Health Team packages.
