The Myrtle Beach Pelicans hosted their Annual Fan Fest at Coastal Federal Field from 10am – 2pm on Saturday, March 8, 2003. Fans flocked to the ballpark and got a chance to purchase individual game tickets for the first time for the upcoming season.
“With Opening Day only a little over a month away, Fan Fest made a great opportunity to come out see the field, take part in our wide range of activities, and leave with Exhibition, Regular Season and Team USA Baseball tickets in hand,” said Pelicans GM Matt O’Brien.
Attendees played in the Moon Bounce, took a turn at the speed pitch and got a free baseball lunch of hot dogs and Pepsi. Fans also got a chance to try their hand at the between-innings promotions including Sumo Wrestling, Human Hamster Ball races and more. The Pelicans also auditioned National Anthem singers at the daytime event.
The Pelicans open the 2003 season on April 4th on the road against the Wilmington Blue Rocks and will kick off the home season against the Frederick Keys on April 11th at 6:05pm.
