WRAL Special Celebrates Centennial of Flight |
WRAL-TV has created a documentary to help kick off the Festival of Flight marking the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ historic flight on the North Carolina coast. “North Carolina Celebrates the Centennial of Flight” will air on Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 7:00pm.
Hosted by WRAL-TV Anchor Bill Leslie, the half-hour special will air in conjunction with the opening weekend of Fayetteville’s Festival of Flight, an 11-day celebration featuring air shows, expos, displays, exhibits and an arts festival. Some of the features include construction of the 1903 Wright Flyer to be flown December 17th during Kitty Hawk’s centennial celebration, aviation curriculum in NC schools, NC’s first licensed pilot, NC’s military aviation history and many other interesting stories involving flight in North Carolina.
The locally produced special was shot and edited in High-Definition television and will air in HD on WRAL Digital. The program will air in standard definition on WRAL-TV and the WRAL NewsChannel.
WRAL-TV Producer Randy Mews and Chief Photographer Bob Sadler shot the footage, researched and put the special together.
