Take Me Out to The…American Idol Concert? |
What’s as patriotic as baseball, apple pie and mom? Raleigh’s very own American Idol Clay Aiken. Aiken fans took the Durham Bulls Ballpark by storm on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, for a chance to win tickets to the sold out American Idol II Tour performance at the RBC Center in Raleigh on August 6th. MIX 101.5 joined in the giveaway fun as WRAL-FM Afternoon DJ Jim Kelly announced winners between each inning of the Bulls game against the Norfolk Tides.
Each winner received a pair of tickets. Fans hoping to win signed up at the MIX 101.5 remote van outside the ballpark entrance between 4pm and 6:30pm. Kelly drew winners on the field during every inning.
A Raleigh native, Aiken sang the National Anthem before a sold out crowd at a Bulls game earlier in the season. He will perform with other American Idol II finalists, including winner Ruben Studdard, at the August concert in the Triangle.
