Bulls End 2003 Season on Top |
The Bulls clinched the South Division title in the International League on Sunday, August 31st. |
The Durham Bulls took the International League South Division pennant with a 9-8 victory over the Charlotte Knights on Sunday, August 31, 2003. The two teams swapped the division lead in the Bulls final homestand series during the last week of August.
Although the Knights pulled off a win at the season closer on Labor Day Monday, the Bulls still had a one game lead over the Knights in the South Division race, finishing with a 73-67 record.

This South Division championship makes the Bulls fifth division title in their six-year Triple-A history. The Bulls faced the Louisville Bats in Durham on Wednesday, September 2nd, to begin the International League’s 71st Annual Governor’s Cup playoffs. The teams will go head to head again tonight and then move to Louisville to continue the series.
