Hurricane Isabel Recovery Donation Drive Exceeds Expectations |
WRAL-TV5, WRAL.com, MIX 101.5 & FOX50 Thank Generous Viewers & Listeners for Digging Deep to Help Our Neighbors to the East
WRAL-FM staffers help load tons of donated items. |
Triangle residents were generous with their giving. |
Kindness and generosity were measured in tons on Friday, September 26 when WRAL-TV5, WRAL.com, MIX 101.5 & FOX50 viewers and listeners answered the call to help meet the immediate needs of those hit hardest by Hurricane Isabel.
Volunteers collected nearly 56,000 pounds of food, cleaning supplies, paper goods and bottled water, filling five tractor-trailers. All of these items will be delivered and distributed directly to hurricane victims by the Food Bank of North Carolina. In addition to these items, over $2,600 in cash donations were made to the Food Bank, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
Special thanks to Harris Wholesale, Crabtree Valley Mall and the Food Bank of North Carolina for their generous contributions to this effort.
Thanks to WRAL-TV’s Cindy Sink for this capcom story.
