Two inspiring works recently released by Capitol Broadcasting Company reflect the beauty and uniqueness of North Carolina through the eyes, ears and hearts of the WRAL-TV family. Peaceful Journey: A Celebration of North Carolina, a new CD by WRAL morning news anchor Bill Leslie, and Off the Beaten Path: A Photographic Journey Through the Back Roads of North Carolina, a book featuring the work of WRAL photographer Bob Sadler, are now available for all to enjoy.
For his new CD, Peaceful Journey: A Celebration of North Carolina, Bill Leslie composed 14 songs inspired by his love for Tar Heel destinations including Ocracoke, Montreat, Roan Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Roanoke River, Kanuga, Lake Mattamuskeet, Bath and Boone. He weaves beautiful new music with the natural sounds of waterfalls, tundra swans and rolling waves, taking listeners on an odyssey across the landscape of his native North Carolina.
Bill Leslie also lends his creative touch to Off the Beaten Path: A Photographic Journey Through the Back Roads of North Carolina. This book, featuring the photography of WRAL photographer Bob Sadler, includes narratives by Leslie, contributions by the WRAL-TV family and an introduction by journalist Charlie Gaddy. Sadler, also a native of North Carolina, works as a videographer and producer at WRAL-TV and has a love for landscape photography. With a 4×5 view camera and an old twin lens reflex camera, he captures compelling images on film, then makes his prints ‘come alive’ in his digital darkroom.
Both the CD and the book can be purchased online at WRAL.com and will be available in the Durham Bulls Gift Shop. In addition, Bill Leslie’s CD can be found at area book stores including Barnes & Noble, Borders, Quail Ridge Books, and Wild Birds Unlimited.
