WRAL Sponsors Fayetteville Dogwood Festival |
It all began in 1982 when Fayetteville, NC was proclaimed “The City of Dogwoods.” The following spring the first Dogwood Festival was held and since that time the festival has continued to grow and evolve into one of the area’s favorite festivals.

For the eighth year, WRAL-TV served as the exclusive television sponsor for the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival held on April 23-25, 2004. According to the Festival director Sharon Caughey, “this year’s event was bigger and better than ever”.
The jewel in the festival crown is the street fair, which took place all day Saturday and Sunday in downtown Fayetteville.
On Saturday, festival goers crowded the WRAL booth to meet Lynda Loveland and pick up WRAL giveaways. WRAL staffers Clarence Williams, Debbie Strange, Loretta Harper-Arnold, and Kelly Riner were on hand to greet Fayetteville viewers and pass out goodies.
Festival goers also registered for the chance to win tickets to the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus, which takes place May 20th at Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville.
