WRAListens Visits Wayne County |
WRAL-TV continued its tour of areas in its viewing audience in May, with a stop in Wayne County. WRAL-TV staffers held a town meeting in Goldsboro with several representatives of Wayne County to hear their views on the latest leg of its WRAListens Tour.

A select panel of Wayne County residents met for the WRAListens Tour at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 1pm. The informal town meeting, facilitated by WRAL News anchors Debra Morgan and Gerald Owens, brought a diverse group of Wayne County residents together to discuss local issues.

Panelists included: Chair of Military Affairs Committee/VP of BB&T Jimmy Edmondson, Asst Superintendent of Wayne County Public Schools Dr. Craig McFadden, NAACP President Sylvia Barnes, School Board Chair Pete Gurley, community volunteer Jimmie Ford, Mount Olive Pickles Marketing/PR Director Lynn Williams, Wayne Community College Director of Continuing Education Carlos Cotto, Downtown Goldsboro Corporation Executive Director Julie Metz Thompson, Goldsboro Mayor Al King.
Wayne County Community College President Edward Wilson and Public Information Officer Tara Humphries hosted the event on behalf of the college.
The WRAListens Tour is a series of town meetings throughout the WRAL viewing area used to discuss community issues and how WRAL can address these issues in daily newscasts and public affairs programming. Each meeting is recorded and edited to air at a later date in the form of a half-hour public affairs program. The Wayne County meeting is scheduled to air on WRAL-TV Saturday, June 19, at 7:00pm.
