Durham Bulls, Minor League Baseball Top Family Bargain |
Fans leaving stadiums after Minor League Baseball games invariably are wearing smiles on their faces. It is the nature of the experience. A fan cost survey shows that those fans are smiling when they leave the ticket window as well. The games are not only quality family entertainment, but a real bargain.
The survey of all 160 affiliated teams in the U.S. and Canada shows that a family of four can enjoy the experience for an industry average of just $43.34 and this is a “full-service” outing, including tickets, food, program and parking. The survey was based on two adult tickets, two child tickets, four hot dogs, two sodas, two beers, a program and a place to park the car.
Durham Bulls fans enjoy the full service outing at a cost of only $30 for a family of four. Compared to the average price for Triple-A ($48.11), Double-A ($44.51), Class A ($42.58) and Short Season-A/Rookie Leagues ($38.15) it’s evident that the Bulls rank as one of the best family values in not only the Triangle but the entire country.
“We’ve always made it a priority for Durham Bulls Baseball to be affordable family entertainment,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “this survey shows that we are living up to it.”
The ticket prices are based on the most economical seat in the stands that are available for every game of the season. The prices are averages for the classification, but they are very broad-based. An adult ticket can be purchased for $7 or less in 146 of the 160 ball parks (91%) and for $6 or less in 126 stadiums (83%). A child’s ticket can be purchased for $5 or less at 126 sites (79%). Parking is provided free by nearly half of the teams.
Minor League Baseball can be even a bigger bargain than this since nearly all teams have discounts for special dates or events and many have grass seating that is growing in popularity.
