American Tobacco Signs First Restaurant
The business tenants at the American Tobacco Historic District will soon have a place nearby to eat. ATHD recently signed its first restaurant tenant, Mellow Mushroom Pizza. The restaurant plans to open in January 2005, occupying approximately 5,000 square feet in the Fowler Building.
To announce the signing, ATHD held a “First Bite” with Mike Hill, Vice President and General Counsel of Capitol Broadcasting Company, Durham Mayor Bill Bell, and Durham County Chairwoman Ellen Reckhow. All the tenants were treated to a free pizza lunch courtesy of Mellow Mushroom, and ATHD even staged a pizza-eating contest with a representative from each of its tenants. In the end, Compuware prevailed, showing all that they have the largest stomach for some tasty pizza.
