Fletcher Golf Tournament To Benefit American Cancer Society
Fred Fletcher 1910-2000 |
Former CBC President Fred Fletcher will once again be remembered in the fight to cure cancer with the Fred Fletcher Memorial Golf Tournament to be held on Monday, September 27, 2004, at the Raleigh Country Club. Fletcher died of skin cancer in January 2000 at the age of 89. The tournament began the following year.
A pre-tournament reception including a live and silent auction will take place on Sunday, September 26, at Michael Dean’s Wood Oven & Bar in North Raleigh to kick off the event. CBC, WRAL-TV and WRAL-FM are all sponsors.
The auctions and golf tournament will benefit the American Cancer Society in its efforts to fight skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States with at least 40% to 50% of Americans who live to age 65 develop skin cancer at least once.
