Willoughby Elected President of Capitol Press Corps |
The Capitol Press Corps recently elected NCNN Anchor/Reporter Matt Willoughby as President of the organization for 2005. The Capitol Press Corps serves as an association among reporters assigned to the North Carolina General Assembly.

Willoughby will serve a one-year term beginning with the next session of the legislature that starts in January. He will be the main contact for reporters who want press passes or working space. He will also serve as a conduit to the other reporters on the General Assembly beat.
Willoughby has been a member of the Capitol Press Corps for about four years, although his work covering the legislature has spanned much longer.
As president he will also be in charge of the annual Press Corps skits, a night of comedy skits written by the reporters about people and incidents during the session. Willoughby has previously emceed the event, doing jokes between the skits, and the event always draws a large crowd. Willoughby’s presidency will be announced at the beginning of the program, according to tradition.
