16th Annual Coats for the Children Brings Jump in Donations |
With the end of the year came the end of WRAL-TV’s 2004 Coats For the Children Campaign. Thanks to the generosity of WRAL’s viewers, many children in the community now have warm winter coats to wear.
WRAL-TV, Jiffy Lube and Chick-fil-A collected approximately 6,700 coats during the month-long campaign. Through the telethon held on Friday, December 10th, $88,000 in monetary donations were collected, an impressive $26,000 more than the 2003 campaign.
All proceeds for the 16th annual Coats for the Children campaign go to the Salvation Army to buy winter coats and warm clothing for needy children in the Triangle.
Over 40 volunteers showed up to help sort and bag coats at Baker Roofing warehouse on Saturday, January 8, 2005. The Salvation Army then made sure the warm coats got to the children who need them.
