Several divisions of Capitol Broadcasting Company have been helping raise funds to aid the victims of the recent tsunami in South Asia. Here are a few updates on their progress:
WRAL Tsunami Relief Fund
Through the PSAs & appeals during WRAL’s newscasts, viewers & listeners thus far have donated $243,992 to the Red Cross’ International Response Fund. WRAL-TV, WRAL-FM and FOX 50 have been directing their audiences to give through this fund.
Tsunami Relief Effort at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park
The Durham Bulls worked together with FOX 50, Mix 101.5/WRAL-FM and The Herald-Sun, raising $3,978 to be donated to the American Red Cross International Response for Tsunami Disaster Relief. From 9am until 5pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2005, the Bulls sold 612 individual game tickets for the 2005 baseball season with all proceeds going to the relief effort.
“It’s been an incredible day ,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “As expected the hearts of the people in the Triangle continue to be with the survivors of this horrible disaster.”
