The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles played before a large crowd of Triangle residents on FOX 50 on Sunday, February 6, 2005. Super Bowl XXXIX delivered a 43.9 household rating and 57 share in the market, over-delivering the station’s sales estimates by nine-tenths of a point.

The game pulled numbers 9.2% higher than the 2003 Super Bowl on WTVD (40.2/54 HH Rtg/Shr) and only -10.7% below the 2004 game on WRAL which featured the hometown favorite Carolina Panthers (49.2/66 HH Rtg/Shr).

Viewership for Super Bowl XXXIX on FOX 50 peaked in the 8pm quarter-hour with a 47.0/61 HH Rtg/Shr, meaning that the program reached more than 454,000 households in the Raleigh-Durham market.

The Simpsons held on to a big share of the Super Bowl audience with a 14.5/23 HH Rtg/Shr, as Homer, Marge & their crew aired immediately after the game.
