Attorneys from the N.C. Bar Association answer calls from WRAL viewers. |
WRAL-TV transferred its newsroom into an active law office for two hours on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 1, 2005. WRAL’s Five On Your Side, the consumer advocate division in news, hosted a group of attorneys representing the NC Bar Association.
These lawyers, who specialize in construction law, took viewer calls and e-mails. They answered questions about consumer rights and responsibilities when building a new home, including remodeling and existing home and warranty issues.

Attorney Paul Sheridan answers legal questions. |
“Building a new house can be exciting and aggravating,” said Attorney Paul Sheridan. “The biggest mistake is not doing research on the front end.”
He further suggested that consumers have a great database right in front of them. He urged them to literally walk up and down the street where they wish to move and ask questions. Look up inspection reports on those homes. He especially suggests going through an independent inspection for any home you plan to buy.
