Sam Matheny on Board of Academy of Digital Television Pioneers

NOW General Manager Sam Matheny has been selected to become a member of the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers ( DTV Academy). CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon & CBC Vice President of Special Projects John Greene are also members of this prestigious organization.
The Academy “honors excellence in all aspects of digital television content development, content delivery and DTV transition leadership through an annual awards program.” The Academy members help select individuals and organizations in a variety of categories each year for outstanding achievement in bringing high-definition television (HDTV) to consumers.
Matheny joins a group of just over 200 members in the DTV Academy. He and all of these individuals “have played a significant role in the decade-long effort to make digital television a reality for consumers.”
Matheny helped CBC start DTV Plus which combines satellite and terrestrial digital broadcasting to provide unprecedented broadband data delivery to businesses and individuals. He is now General Manager of News Over Wireless, a new CBC & WRAL-TV venture. He is also a board member of the Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and chair of its financial development committee.
