Wool E. Bull motors around the bases like a seasoned NASCAR driver, but now the Durham Bulls have a more solid link to the races. Former Bulls Assistant General Manager Gillian Zucker has been named President of the California Speedway.
Zucker has been serving as Vice President of Business Operations and Development at the Daytona International Speedway. Previously she had worked as Assistant GM for the High Desert Mavericks Baseball Club, in Adelanto, CA, in addition to that post for the Bulls. Zucker served as Assistant GM for the bulls from 1995 – 1998.
Thirty-six-year-old Zucker will assume her new responsibilities on the West Coast on July 5, 2005. She will be responsible for all strategic planning and day-to-day operations for the California Speedway, including event execution and fan development.
“Gillian is a creative and talented individual who brings a tremendous wealth of experience and leadership to her new position,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of International Speedway Corporation (ISC) John Saunders. “We look forward to Gillian continuing to apply her tremendous passion and knowledge of motorsports in her new position at California Speedway.”
