WRAL’s StormTrack 2005 Gets You Ready for Hurricane Season StormTrack 2005 Special Airs Thursday, July 28 at 7:30pm
|
The 2005 Hurricane Season is off to a frantic start! With five named storms already out of the gate, this season shows no signs of slowing down. WRAL’s StormTrack 2005, airing Thursday, July 28 at 7:30pm in high-definition television, can help you prepare for the hurricane season.
During this special, WRAL News revisits areas slammed by last year’s storms and shares lessons learned in the aftermath. WRAL News anchor Bill Leslie hosts the program, looking at how past hurricanes have shaped North Carolina, its residents, and their response to storms, while Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel looks ahead to what this season may hold. Also included in the half-hour special: the dangers of inland flooding, what FEMA does and doesn’t cover, our state’s evacuation routes, and Governor Mike Easley talks one-on-one with Bill Leslie about the state’s preparations for the season.
“As we learned with Fran, Floyd, and Alex, hurricanes are not strictly a coastal event. There are many factors that determine the impact of a storm on our state. While winds can be damaging, flooding is the number one cause of death from hurricanes. StormTrack 2005 is designed to give our viewers the latest information to prepare for a storm and deal with the aftermath,” says Leesa Moore Craigie, Executive Producer of StormTrack 2005.
