Over 4,000 N.C. Students Helped By WRAL School Stuff Campaign |
The final numbers are in and WRAL-TV’s 2005 School Stuff Campaign is officially a success. Over 4,100 students in 9 participating counties have the supplies they need for school due to the generosity of WRAL viewers.
During the month of August, viewers were asked to bring school supplies to participating UPS stores and SunCom Wireless locations throughout central North Carolina. WRAL-TV partnered with Communities in Schools of North Carolina for the fourth annual installment of the campaign.
In Wake County alone an estimated $15,000 in school supplies were collected and distributed to 1,060 economically disadvantaged Wake County Public School students.
As an added bonus, the campaign had a benefit unforeseeable at the time the collections began in earnest. Students newly relocated to the WRAL viewing area who were from areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina received school supplies as well. Communities in Schools of Wake County delivered 15 backpacks full of age appropriate school supplies to students displaced by Katrina who landed in Wake County.
Thanks to all WRAL viewers who helped students in our viewing area with their kindness this fall.
